ZMMMC is a registered Family Trust (Charity, Not-for-Profit Organization) founded in 2014 by Dr. Zephania Matanga and Mrs. Mildrate Matanga. It operates as a public–private partnership in collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Health and Child Care. ZMMMC was operationalized on July 17, 2023.

The Centre is motivated to provide primary healthcare services to — but not limited to — expecting mothers and babies, with the goal of reducing the infant mortality rate. It also supports individuals suffering from long-term illnesses such as HIV, helping to reduce morbidity rates and significantly decrease disability incidences.

ZMMMC programs focus on disease prevention, poverty alleviation, and community strengthening. In addition, the Centre seeks to promote economic empowerment and reduce work hours lost due to temporary or permanent impairments.
